What is Botox?
Botulinum toxin, also called Botox, is a substance that blocks the muscles responsible for the appearance of expression wrinkles while at the same time maintains facial mobility. Injected in small doses in muscle, it triggers progressive muscular relaxation. The first wrinkles to appear on a person’s face are expression wrinkles. They are caused by our facial movements when we experience emotions.
Botox is a resorbable product without danger for the organism. Botox treatments are done in our outpatient surgery clinic in BKK1, Phnom Penh.
What are the principal indications?
- Lion’s wrinkle, between the eyebrows,
- Horizontal forehead wrinkles,
- Crow’s feet, wrinkles outside the corners of one’s eyes when one smiles.
When one is young, the skin returns to its smooth aspect after each muscular contraction. However, when one is in his or her 30’s, loss of skin elasticity leads to the appearance of small folds, wrinkles. These wrinkles will progressively deepen and become permanently visible.
How is Botox administered?
Once the skin has been cleaned and disinfected, the physician injects toxin in the skin with very fine needles. For global facial treatment, the physician can also fill the deepest wrinkles with injections of hyaluronic acid on the same day (lips, cheekbones, nasolabial folds).
Follow-up is simple with the possible appearance of slight bruises and swelling.
The results are visible after three days and the product’s effect lasts approximately 6 months. The skin will be smooth with the wrinkles significantly reduced. One will appear to be relaxed with natural facial features.
Botox treatments take only a few minutes. They are performed in our plastic surgery clinic in BKK1, Phnom Penh.
